Security measures implemented ahead of PNP conference

The Police are advising delegates and supporters attending the People’s National Party (PNP) Annual Conference this weekend, of the various security measures to be implemented.

They’re warning that firearms, knives, drugs, ice picks, machetes, umbrellas, glass bottles or any other items that can be used to cause serious harm or injury, will not be allowed in venues scheduled to host conference activities.

All persons entering the venues will be searched and vending will not be allowed outside of the designated areas.

Water lockoff scheduled for Little Bay/Negril - says NWC

The National Water Commission, (NWC), is advising customers in Bloody Bay to Long Bay area, Rutland Point and sections of Norman Manley Boulevard and Orange Bay Country Club in Westmoreland, that they will experience a disruption in their water supply on Monday.

The disruption is expected  between the 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. 

This is to facilitate the laying of pipe line along the Little Bay to the Negril corridor.

Customers in these areas are asked to store water for use during this scheduled down-time.

Education Minister says controversial book went "beyond the realm of tolerance"

Education Minister Ronnie Thwaites, is questioning how the material in the Ministry’s Health and Family Life Education curriculum got into the school system.
He has also given more details on his reason for pulling the material.

On Friday, the Education Minister ordered that the material be withdrawn from all schools, rewritten, then re-distributed in order to prevent disruption of the Health and Family Life Education  programme.

The Santa Cruz Police have arrested a 38-year-old woman for the stabbing death of her boyfriend.

He is Fitz Sampson, 48 ,from the Leeds area.
The incident happened on Friday on the outskirts of the town.

Charged with murder is Venice Aflick.

Reports are that the two were at the Santa Crest hotel having drinks, when they got into an argument.

During the dispute, she reportedly used a knife to stab Mr. Sampson.

He ran away but collapsed a few feet away where he died.

The Independent Commission of Investigations, (INDECOM), has launched a probe into Friday’s shooting death of a teenager in Bluefields, Westmoreland.

The teenager, 19-year-old Kemar Darling of Beckford Street, Savanna-la-Mar, was killed during an alleged confrontation with the Police.
It’s reported that three police officers were travelling in the Bluefields area when they allegedly came under fire from two men on a motorcycle.
